Munster Minor A Shield Final 2016

Limerick 1-14 Cork 1-9

Played in Cahir GAA Club, it was Cork who started brightly with 2 points on the board from Aoibhinn Kidney  before Limerick responded w ith a goal on 15 mins by Rachel Considine being in the right place at the right time. In a free flowing game, with all the skills of the game on display both teams swapped scores with Cork's Keeva McCarthy and Limerick's Liz Carmody slotting over from placed ball.  At half time it stood Cork 1-5 Limerick 1-5.

The second half saw Limerick power ahead by 3 points again from the work rate of player of the match Liz Carmody from play and frees, and Cork struggled with Limerick's huge appetite for the sliotar all over the pitch with their first score of the second half coming 20 minutes in telling its own story.  With Chloe O'Brien in great running form for the Treaty girls, they ran out comfortable winners in the end despite conceding a last minute penalty which was put over for a point.  Captain Ellanna Mulcahy accepted the trophy on behalf of her team mates which finished off a nice win for their season.  Cork were reliant on Keeva McCarthy who scored the majority of their scores, and will have lots to build on for next season.  Our thanks to Cahir for the use of their facilites, and to Annmarie McGann and her team of officials on the night.
